In order to become an excellent teacher, one would need to display exceptional public speaking abilities. I have dreamed of becoming a teacher since I was a child, and I plan to be the best teacher I can be, which makes intercommunication, especially public communication, key. I am an advanced public speaker, because I demonstrate elocution, confidence, personality, and exceptional knowledge when I am public speaking. Within these main components of a speaker are: delivery, style, spotlight effect, credibility, and rhetoric. All of these qualities and concepts affect how an audience receives the speech and how persuasive or informative it is.
Elocution is the skill of clear and expressive speech, especially of distinct pronunciation and articulation. The reason this is an essential component to a speech is the speaker needs to be able speak clearly for the audience to understand him or her (Beebe 27). I remember when I had a teacher who couldn’t pronounce many words correctly, so I speak majority of my time in class trying to decode what they were trying to say, instead of taking in and processing their lessons. Elocution is best applied using the concept delivery, the presenting of the message in a natural, varied, and appropriate way (Beebe 27). The presenter needs to rehearse the speech and flesh out any words that might be tricky, and be at ease enough to give clear articulation. I know a strength in this is I speak clearly enough for my words to get across to my audience, and that I am slow enough that they may understand my message. However, I speak naturally fast due to where I grew up, and while I only know English now, I used to have a different first language (I gained English when I went to preschool and my grandmother...

...dvanced public speaker, because I demonstrate elocution, confidence, personality, and exceptional knowledge when I am public speaking. These components of a speaker are reflected in the concepts delivery, spotlight effect or audience apprehension, style, rhetoric, and credibility. While I have some strengths, like creative writing enabling me to write rhetorical devices and demonstrate my personal style, I also have many weaknesses to work on, like building confidence so the spotlight effect doesn’t occur and working on my pronunciation. I turn my anxiety into something positive, instead of allowing it to become a crutch. All of these qualities affect how an audience receives any of my speeches, so I plan to work on them to the best of my abilities so I can be a great speaker. I may be a work in progress, but that does not mean I haven’t already achieved many goals.

The Point The Speaker By Noah Yuval Harari Essay

- The point the speaker, Noah Yuval Harari, is attempting to make is that humans as a species have been able to survive as long as we have due to the unique characteristics and behaviors we have inherited from our ancestors that have allowed us to cooperate more efficiently and expand our complex cognitive processes through imaginative thinking. Richard Cory 's The Speaker Essay

- ... The way the speaker praises Richard Cory, it is like he is giving a eulogy at a funeral or writing a piece for a local paper. Basically, he is speaking to everyone who had seen Cory and thought of him in the same way as he did. But we don’t know this until the end of the poem. As for Cinderella, the speaker is a woman. The woman states at the end of every thought “That story.” (Sexton lines 1-109) Further along in the poem, we get a long description of Cinderella’s life to emphasize the Speaker’s point, as previously stated “That story.” (Sexton 109) She is remarking on the ending of every story with a happy ending, but with cynicism “that story” being similar to the modern phrase “yeah...   [tags: Fairy tale, Cinderella, The Speaker]
